Rain

Waan atini setu bokay arr roba? = Do you think it will rain today?

Before the rain comes a HUGE dust storm blows in... "cleaning up before the rains" we have been told. It was amazing to watch this one come in over the rocks from the east, but it blew past us to the north and we didn't get any of the rain.

Olle Bokaya = rain stick

The wind dies, the clouds come, it starts to feel really hot (which is over and above the normal HOTness of Kalacha) because of the humidity... and we all hope for rain!

The day before last we got some rain... not enough to get the ground wet, but enough to feel some drops!

That's pretty neat! Do the Kenyans have any native mythology about rainbows or anything like that?

They think the rainbow is bad, because it is the sign of the end of the rain... the 'rain stick' stops the rain. That is all I have been told so far.
