The adventures of my other brother...

"My Christmas present to me, I'm so happy!"
Kevin decided to come to visit me here in the desert. He came in time for Christmas, which was awesome, and will stay until we tire of him. The first day Aabbo gave him the name, Okille (oh-key-lay)... which means 'tall nose'. :)
So here are some pics of the last few weeks.

Okille came all the way to Kenya to teach our little sister how to eat Oreos properly!
"Okille Driving School"
Fire wood getting time!

Okille getting desroyed in Ping-pong.
The pious chick. "ever hearing, but never understanding... ever seeing, but never perceiving." Is 6:9
He has an odd fascination with ugly bugs.
Our sister has figured out that Okille is odd and like lizards so she caught one and gave it to him as a gift!
This is the river when it rains...
And this is when it is empty...
Doing women's work (cleaning rocks and such out of the rice).
He has taken up plumbing.
Right after, "oh, it looks fine, go ahead!" We had to jack it up to put rocks under the tires to get out of the mud.
Fortunately Barako caught him and made him put the puff adder down.
The infamous towel.
Daniel, this one's for you... Sausage, eggs, cheese and fresh bread... Kev is eating like a king!!!
Okille has now converted to traditionalism. (spot the mzungu!)

Visiting our friend Guyo.
Okille's 'nice family'... they love him and feed him as much chai as he can drink... they even do his laundry for him!
The inconvenient chai interupter... they had to physically lift her right up onto her feet so that she could then walk out of the slippery mud.
Inside a 'min dase' (hut).
The rain dance! Or two starfish lost in the desert...

"Cute little guy, I love him so much... kid's not bad either." (Kevin's words)
The chalbi.
<('')>
All varieties of odd creatures can be seen coming from far and wide to the natural salt lick on the Chalbi.
Okille jumped OVER the river, but landed right in the mud, hehehe.
After the river he fell in again...
After falling into the big sinking (princess bride like) mud hole Okille decides to do laundry while his clothes are still on his body.

RAIN RAIN RAIN and then some more RAIN!!!

After 2 years of basically no rain we get one afternoon of rain and we end up with a full on river behind our house!!! Amazing!
"Bokay Kobate?" is one of the common greetings... "How's the rain affecting you?"
Some houses ended up in the river itself! It makes it hard to cook anything when your fire is in a puddle!

This is our house, out back is our own private lake!
We had invited some friends over for lunch, and even in the down pour they still came... so we spent the afternoon trying to get warm and dry!
Jillo was cold so we wrapped her up in Barbara's jumper! What a cutie!
Once the rain stopped we ventured out to check out the lagga (seasonal river).

Everyone was standing at a respectful distance (rivers=death)until Kevin came, he was a bad example and had them all playing in the river.

Lokho, Me and Nawesi on the bridge (it isn't really a functional bridge, ah well)
Guchi's first swimming lesson... she didn't drown so she passes!!!

We couldn't drive out to the Chalbi...
So we played in the mud instead.

Puddle jumping is NOT a common past time in Kalacha.
But it is still fun!
